The history

During Prohibition (1920-1933), secret bars sprang up across the United States where alcohol was still served. These speakeasies were hidden behind unmarked doors, in cellars and back rooms. Guests were encouraged to speak softly – "speak easy" – so as not to draw attention. Behind closed doors a world emerged of mystery, jazz, remarkable cocktails and exclusive encounters.
